Only being able to see the tops of the pine trees from the train windows is how this vibrant community received its name. Founded in 1901 and incorporated in 1903 as a rail station, Pinetops became the intersection of commerce as businesses would use the rail system to transfer goods. Due to budgetary changes effective today sewer rates will increase for inside and outside customers.
Inside sewer rates were at $24.23 base charge plus $6.96 per 1000 gallons under 3,001, the rate will increase to $25.44 base charge plus $7.31 per 1000 gallons under 3,001.
